6月13日よりサントリー美術館にて開催される沖縄復帰40周年記念「紅型（BINGATA）琉球王朝のいろとかたち」。琉球王国で生まれた型紙による紅型衣装は、型染による表現の多様性において特質すべき染繊品。型紙を駆使して飾り出された「かたち」と鮮やかな「色」には、高い評価がある。しかし、これらの紅型衣裳は、王国が崩壊し、廃藩置県後、多くの収集家や研究者たちによってコレクションされ、沖縄を離れてしまった。
今回の展覧では、戦前、戦後を通じて守り伝えられた代表的な優品や王家の伝えられた作品（国宝）など、100 点以上もの作品が展示される。詳しくはコチラ！

2012 marks the 40th Anniversary of the return of Okinawa to Japan after World War II. To mark the occasion, The Suntory Museum of Art at Roppongi Midtown is hosting ‘BINGATA’, an exhibition of Okinawas unique dyed textiles that were developed especially for the upper-classes of the Ryukyu Kingdom. Bingata is a highly decorative and colorful form of stencil dyed fabric which is still used today in festivals. This exhibition features pieces of historical value from prized collections.
