Costume Institute Party

The Annual Costume Gala was held on May 5th at the Metropolitan Museum of Art New York City. The theme for this year’s event was “Super Heroes”, an exhibition of Super-hero imagery used in fashion runs from May 7th – September 1st. The event was the most glamorous of the year so far with A-list guests paying $7,500 each per ticket.

Anne Wintour reined supreme in the specially designed Chanel piece by Karl Lagerfeld. The true mark of a fashion icon, you could imagine no-one else wearing it and at the same time Ms. Wintour looks effortless as she takes her turn on the red carpet.

Katie Holmes tapped up the red blue combo synonymous with super heroes to subtly yet effectively reflect the theme of the night whilst sporting a chic new twist on last seasons bob cut (Strapless dress by Armani).

Christina Ricci looked stunning in her Givenchy gown, it looks like what what one of LV’s nurses would look like dressed up for a night on the town.

Victoria Beckham must have been without her usual hair and make-up team as she looked drained of color and much older than 34. Her dress (from Armani) would be better received after the upcoming “Dynasty” movie. (Surely shoulder pads will be back after that?)
