ブラジル出身のウォルター・グリヨン（Walter Griaõ）による「グリヨン（GRIAO）」の2011年春夏コレクションが、10月16日（土）よりエキシビションを開催。今回は、彼がデザインを勤めるSFIDA（スフィーダ）との合同展示会ということで、会場は「SFIDA SHOP OMOTESSANDO」。3シーズン目を迎えたGRIAOは、確実に変化している。早くも4シーズン目に期待。そして、新たなパターンにも注目を。

GRIAO SPRING/SUMMER 2011
今シーズンのGRIAOは、1931年にニューヨークに生まれ、15歳の時から米VOGUE専属モデルとして活躍し、その後1978年に復帰、79歳にして今なお現役で活躍するカルメン・デロリフィチエに注目。過去の苦労話やプライベートでのトラブルを人生の汚点として隠すのではなく、現在の自分を構成する要因の一部として公にする彼女の覚悟、そして潔さ。そんな真実にみえる剥き出しの美しさを、インターナルストラクチャーに重ね合わせて表現している。しわのできにくい人工素材に細かなダーツやタックを施し、縫い目や裏地といった服の内部構造をあえて表に出すことで、クラフトマンシップの光る裁断技術と計算されたレイヤーが簡潔なボリュームを創り、相反する素材間に美しさと機能の調和を生み出す。チャコール、ブラック、ベイビーブルーをフィーチャーした無機質なカラーパレットに、アクセントカラーのレッドがセンセーショナルな温もりを与える。
Walter Griao is presenting his GRIAO S/S 2011 collection commencing this weekend in Omotesando. The young brand takes advantage of the designers relations with SFIDA for whom he has also designed to be shown together up until the 21st October. GRIAO Spring-Summer 2011
This season’s GRIAO collection presents the internal structure of clothes – such as seams and linings – on the outside, holding these details up as objects of beauty rather than something to be concealed. The muse is Carmen Dell’Orefice, who signed a modeling contract with US VOGUE in 1946, at the age of 15, and is still active at the age of 79. Carmen’s frankness in regards to the many difficulties in her private life serves as an analogy for the act of putting the details of clothing construction on the exterior of the garments. The collection features darts and tucks applied to synthetic fabrics, structuring techniques that exhibit a high level of craftsmanship, and carefully calculated complex layering, which are used to create a sense of compact volume and engender a harmony between the beauty and functionality of contrasting materials. A steely palette based around charcoal, black and baby blue is given a sensational boost with flashes of red, while the silhouettes leave a strong, very contemporary impression.
