HERON PRESTON x CARHARTT WIP WORKSHOP with CHEN CHEN & KAI WILLIAMS

ヘロン・プレストンとカーハート WIP のカプセルコレクション「Heron Preston x Carhartt WIP」ポップアップ ストアが東京・表参道にオープン。

ついに幕開けとなった待望のコラボプロジェクト。オープニング初日の昨夜は、デザイナーのヘロン・プレストンとブルックリンを拠点とするチェン・チェン＆カイ・ウィリアムズの2人のワークショップを設け、カーハートから着想を得たオリジナルのアイテムを制作することができる。「Up-Cycling」と名付けたプラスチック製品の再利用、新たに価値のあるものを廃物から形にするというサスティナブルなモノづくり。レジ袋の問題点を解決するため、ニューヨークから調達したビルール袋と東京で集めたペットボトルのキャップで作り上げるアートな取り組み。2つの都市（プラスチック）を溶かして完成したオリジナルのカッターは、実用的かつアートピースのような仕上がりに。

Heron Preston’s collaboration with Carhartt Wip launches today, and together with a preview of the collection we sat down for a workshop with the designer and NYC based artists Chen Chen and Kai Williams. The concept was an exercise in ‘up-cycling’, adding worth to everyday plastics rendered otherwise worthless by their ubiquity. By using plastic bags from New York and bottle tops from Tokyo, the melting together of the plastics also created a collaboration between the two cities.
