Marc Jacobs Aoyama Store Opening

2010年12月4日東京・南青山にオープンを控えている「MARC JACOBS AOYAMA」のオープニングレセプションが昨夜開催された。著名人の駆け付けはもちろん、マスコミ、海外メディア、ファッションニスタ、エディター、モデルと多くの人々が集まり、ステファン・ジャクリッチ・アーキテクツ(Stephen Jaklitsch architects)による注目のビルディング(ショップ)を堪能。地下1階(Men’s)、地上2階と3フロアを展開した店内は、ガラス張りで高級感を出す1階をはじめ、2階は「幾重もの直線彫り」が特徴のテラコッタで覆い、プレタポルテ専用の「プライベート空間」を演出。さらに、話題となっていた、アジア人初のヌードTシャツ。ご存知、モデル、タレントとして活躍する梨花(Rinka)が、ヴィクトリア、エヴァ、ナオミに続きオールヌードを見せつけたのだった。(明日12月4日より店頭で発売開始。)それにしても …… ニューヨークから誰一人訪れることのなかったマーク・ジェイコブス関係者。世界初の店舗だというのに。とても残念すぎる。それはさておき、ショップ(MARC JACOBS AOYAMA)をベースにカフェ(MOSAIQUE)、レストラン(RIVA DEGLI ETRUSCHI) 、Le Baron de Parisと3カ所での演出が来場者を興奮させた。マーク・ジェイコブス ジャパンのマーケティング&コミュニケーションディレクターとして知られるミスター マーティン・ウェブ(Martin Webb)とモデルエリ・ローズ(Elli-Rose)による2ショット。そして、コレクションラインよりシルバーのドレスに身を包んだ梨花が登場し、キュートにポージング。店内を見渡せば、夏に新しく登場したメンズフレグランス「BANG」に … 10年以上にわたりマーク・ジェイコブスの広告キャンペーンを手掛けてきたファッション・フォトグラファー、ユルゲン・テラー(Juergen Teller)による盛り沢山な広告写真集。そうこうしているうちに、外は暗くなりマーク・ジェイコブス特有のラグジュアリーな存在感が屋上よりライトアップされ、夜の街に消えていったマーク・ジェイコブス族。改めて、明日12月4日(土)オープンなので、是非覗いてみるべし。

The opening reception party for the new Marc Jacobs building in Tokyo’s Aoyama district was held last night. The award winning Stephen Jaklitsch architects designed building opened its doors for the first time, revealing a 3 level store which epitomizes Marc Jacobs brand of laid back luxury. Model Rinka who appears on the ‘Protect the Skin Your In’ T-shirt wore a full-length silver Marc Jacobs dress to meet press and fans, media from Taiwan and Hong Kong were especially excited to see the model who apparently has the mot popular blog in Asia. We accompanied our friend Elli-Rose to the event, she was also dressed in Marc Jacobs, she’s photographed here with Marc Jacobs Japan Marketing and PR Director Martin Webb. Architect Stephen Jaklitsch sat in conversation on the 2nd floor where we also ran into Vogue Nippon editor Mitsuko Watanabe who we hadn’t seen since our trip to New York. We popped next door to ‘Mousaique’ on the 4th Floor of the ‘Jewels of Aoyama’ which was open for guests to enjoy coffee or champagne. Whilst we were in there a lot of people were going in and out of the store. Me and Joe went back and had a look at the men’s items in the basement where we took some time to look through Juergen Teller’s book showcasing the past 10 years of advertising photography he has done for the brand. It’s an amazing book, top of my Christmas list, the Teller-Jacobs combination, for me, is the best collaboration in fashion photography. There was a laid back and happy feeling, tinged with a little disappointment that no one from New York, in particular Marc and business partner Robert Duffy, had been able to make it. I’m an avid follower of Marc Jacobs International on twitter and they didn’t even mention the event which was arguably the opening of their most impressive store yet. But we did them proud though. On our way out we ran into models Kiko Mizuhara and Amy Kuroda and the party moved on to the European villa style Riva Degli Etruschi restaurant which opens this weekend. It had the feeling of a friends house party and ensured everyone was suitably tipsy for the after party at Le Baron de Paris where champagne all-round with Horse Meat Disco capped a memorable night.

The new Marc Jacobs store in Aoayma is a welcome edition to an area which had some of the worlds best examples of contemporary retail architecture (the famous Prada building is on the corner of the same block). The opening party was a great success and we hope we get to see Marc in Japan some time in the near future. For now we’ll settle with the already iconic BANG campaign.
