”ジーニアス”な「モンクレール」の新たなるビッグプロジェクト「MONCLER GENIUS」。ミラノ・ファッション・ウィーク初日の2月20日、8人のクリエイター（ジーニアス）を迎えて始動。
先日お披露目された1発目のローンチ、ピエールパオロ・ピッチョーリ（ヴァレンティノ）、シモーネ・ロシャ、フランチェスコ・ラガッツィ（パーム・エンジェルス）、クレイグ・グリーン、サンドロ・マンドリーノ、スタイリストのカール・テンプラー（1952）、そして、日本からは Fragment でご存知藤原ヒロシと二宮啓（noir kei ninomiya）の8名が抜擢。
8人の異なるクリエーションが ”1つのメゾン”で”異なるボイス” を発信。本コレクションは6月から順次発売、全てのコレクションを集めたポップアップやデジタル向けのコンテンツを設け、月一で新しいコレクションを発表していくとのこと。年2回というファンションデザイナーのサイクルを覆した新たなる進化。現代の消費者が求むスピーディーでエキサイティングな”ジーニアス”なプロジェクト。
Moncler has delivered the first phase of it’s previously proposed new strategy with an event to kick of Milan Fashion Week. Having announced the end of it’s Gamme Bleu and Gamme Rouge collections by Thom Browne and Giambattista Valli last year, announcements of collaborations with eight new talents came on Valentines day. The diverse lineup of Designers being Valentino’s Pierpaolo Piccioli, Craig Green, Simone Rocha, Hiroshi Fujiwara, Kei Ninomiya, ‘1952’ by stylist Karl Templer and in-house Moncler Grenoble designer Sandro Mandrino and Palm Angels’ Francesco Ragazzi. (it should be noted that the brand dropped all mention of stylist Karl Templar following accusations of sexual misconduct last week – accusations the stylist denies). Moncler’s plan is for each collection to drop in turn, one after the other beginning in June. The ‘genius’ thinking behind this is that today’s customer is constantly looking for something new and innovative – something a twice yearly collection cycle cannot cater too.
With such stark variations on Moncler’s luxe down jacket signature as Piccioli’s religious-garb-like head to floor coverage and Fujiwara’s contemporary take on traditional outerwear, it’s evident that it’s not just street style itself but ‘drop’ culture that is now becoming a consideration for major brands.
