騒がれるニッキー・ミナージュ（Nicki Minaj）。ビッチキャラなニッキー・ミナージュ。90年代にさかのぼってみると、リル・キム（Lil Kim）とフォクシー・ブラウン（Foxy Brown）が騒動を起こしていたのを覚えている。個人的にはダントツ リルキムだったが。そう … 同様、現在もリル・キムがニッキーに対して吠えているではないか。「彼女は私のコピーよ。」といった理由で。… ファッションにもいえることだが、”コピー” という言葉を発してしまったらこの世の中全てがコピーな気がしてしまう。音楽にしろファッションにしろトレンドはまた戻ってくるのだからね。どちらにしろ、「ニッキー・ミナージュ vs リル・キム」的な騒動はくだらなすぎる。それはさておき、デビュー・アルバム「Pink Friday」で好記録を残した話題のニッキー・ミナージュが、”THE BIRTH OF A STAR” と題された「V Magazine」の表紙に登場。そして、カニエ・ウエスト、ジェイ・Z、ニッキー・ミナージュという順番でスタートした怪物たちによる「MONSTER」。カニエにもジェイ・Zにも全然負けてないニッキーの迫力。何が言いたいか分かるかな？彼女の魅力。彼女自身のパワフルな迫力。リル・キムが何を言おうと、誰もがニッキーに夢中なのだ。夏に開催されるサマソニ2011 への出演が決まることを願っている。
‘Whats New?’ asks V Magazine on it’s new cover, starring Nicki Minaj. This, ‘The Discovery’ issue introduces new people and things in the world of Art, music and fashion and Minaj is the perfect cover choice with the byline ‘THE BIRTH OF A STAR’. She’s been making mix-tapes for years an rapping on others tracks but in 2010 she really made a name for herself, crossing over to a more commercial sound to release her debut record, ‘Pink Friday’, which is already platinum stateside. To celebrate this success she released the two previously unseen publicity shots below. Her visual image has a great deal to do with her appeal, whether it be pink wigs or pink lips via her sold-out ‘Pink Friday’ MAC Cosmetics lipstick collaboration. I don’t want to compare her to any other females out there doing their thing because girls have to much of that shit to deal with. The Lil’ Kim vs. Nicki Minaj argument is tired and it’s sad female MC’s feel the need to turn on one another (a fire stoked by the media), especially at a time when every male in the game is guesting on each others tracks. Nicki goes into the differences for men and women in the industry in her MTV documentary ‘My Time Now’ (clip below). There aren’t many guys who can follow Jay-Z and still sound out but that’s just what Nicki did in the Kanye track ‘MONSTER’, she stole the video too, listen to a Nicki-only remix by KINGDOM HERE. I hope to see Nicki Minaj in Japan this year, it would be sick if she got booked for Fuji Rock or Summer Sonic.
