This past week saw the launch of Anselm Reyle for Dior at Shinjuku’s Isetna store. The line of accessories is available at a stage like pop-up store on the ground floor of the store. It features the bags, shoes and wallets surrounded by and interior of multi-colored paint pots like the German artist himself uses, his work available to view in large coffee table books. Dior staff attend several make-up counters where customers can sit in chairs upholstered with the signature camouflage as they try out the make-up thats also included in the line-up. The Anselm Reyle for Dior pop-up shop is open at Shinjuku’s Isetan store up until January 17th. The collection itself is on limited sale until March of this year.

ギザ … マドモアゼル・ユリアが手掛ける「ギザ（GIZA）」の2012年春夏コレクション。そう … マドモアゼル・ユリアといえば2011年8月3日に本格的シンガーデビューを果たし … 10月5日にはデビューアルバム「MADEMOWORLD」が発売された。さらに、フランス出身のアーティスト、ファフィ（FAFI）が監督を務めたミュージックビデオが日本のiTunesエレクトロニックチャート1位を獲得（こちら）。そんな彼女のアクセサリーブランドに .. モデルのリラ（RILA）が抜擢。ビジュアルでは、キタコレ代表ブランド「GARTER（ガーター）」の衣装を使用（こちら）。リラといえば … 2004年のD&Gのキャンペーンが頭に浮かぶ。D&Gのほかには、CK ONEやM·A·Cでも活躍していたな。今後の彼女にも期待が。フォトグラファー、朝倉圭祐（Keisuke Asakura）。

Last year we visited the joint GIZA x GARTER exhibition (see photos here) where first saw these images from the GIZA S/S 2012 look book. Shot on location in Japan by photographer Keisuke Asakura, Mademoiselle Yulia stars in two of the shots with model Rila featuring in the rest. These are the first new pieces from GIZA in some time and feature references to Egypt as well as Yulia’s favorite unicorns and multi-colored dinosaurs.

As people return from their sunny New Year breaks, we join River Viiperi and Abbery Lee Kershaw pool side for a look at the Versace for H&M Cruise 2012 collection. Unlike the global phenomenon that was the global launch back in November (see Tokyo Dandy photos here), this collection is only available online (so not in Japan). そんなディオールが … アートに手を出し … アンセルム・ライルと手を組んだ今回のカモフラージュコレクション。とにかくカラフル。バックにクラッチ … スカーフに財布。今回の撮影では限られた数点だけを使用したのだが、とても雰囲気ある作品となり新年早々二重丸をあげたいところだ。日本らしい！と思わせる … 東京タワー … 浅草の浅草寺付近 … 立派に手入れされた松の木をバックにそれぞれのピースたちがジャパンを演出。（実際のキャンペーンは … こちら！）

German artist Anslem Reyle has collaborated with Dior on a range of accessories that defy the gloomy Winter months through which they will be available for a limited time. The collection makes it’s debut at Tokyo’s Isetan Shinjuku store tomorrow, January 4th, and we’ve collaborated with Dior to photograph several pieces from a Japanese perspective. Where as the original shots showed hints of Paris before a gloomy sky, (see the campaign here), our images capture some of the bags, wallets , scarves and bracelets from the collection amongst icons of the Tokyo cityscape. From Tokyo Tower to the banks of the Sumida River via temples and a Japanese garden, it’s a truly Japonaise affair. This meeting of fashion house heritage and contemporary art fits perfectly into the Tokyo setting, a futuristic city that retains the traditions of its past, each inspiring the other.

昨年は本当に色々な事がありましたね。（話せば長くなります。）良かったことも悪かったことも全部引っ括めて成長すればよし。（はい。自分に言い聞かせてます。）成長するためには、自分自身何かに取り組んでみたり。新しく趣味を始めてみたり。刺激的な場所に行ってみたり。新たな自分開拓とでも言わせて頂こう。眠っている自分自身の可能性をね。2012年はそんな可能性を試す年かと。

2012, year of the Dragon, hear us ROAR!!!!!!!!!!

2011年色々な事がありましたね。まず、マグニチュード9.0を記録する地震が東北地方太平洋沖仲で発生したこと。この地震で、起きてしまった停電や火災、津波などの影響でお亡くなりになられた方々のご冥福をお祈りし、被災された皆様に心からお見舞い申し上げます。

311震災後 … 沢山の人々が考えさせられたでしょう。そのことから … 沢山の人々がチャリティ、ボランティア活動に参加していました。わたしたちTOKYODANDYも … 震災支援のための食品・物資寄付を受け付けている「セカンドハーベスト・ジャパン」へ、食品・物資の支援をさせて頂きました。（こちら）「ONE NIPPON」に参加頂いた出演者の皆様。会場にお越しいただき、支援物資を持ち寄った皆様、本当にありがとうございました。
また、20年ぶりのジャパンツアーで来日していたカイリー・ミノーグからのメッセージ。（こちら）7月に開催された富永愛主催の写真展「EXHIBITION – I, Tominaga」。（こちら）被災地へといち早く桜を届けたいという気持ちから富永愛自身Twitterにて立ち上げた＜#sakuramovement＞。各国のVOGUE編集長たちが集結した「VOGUE FASHION’S NIGHT OUT JAPAN」。（こちら）とにかく … 本当に色々なことがあり、沢山の人々が支え合った1年ではないでしょうか。

We can’t think about the year 2011 without remembering all of those that lost their lives, homes and families on March 11th. The biggest natural disaster Japan has ever faced and a nuclear threat, the destructive power of which will be felt for generations to come.

It’s a poignant place to start our look back of the year as the ONE NIPPON event was one of our highlights throughout the year. In a time of uncertainty and fear, the community of people you see in Tokyo Dandy photos all came together through wanting to help those affected in the North East of Japan. It may have been a small gesture in the face of such huge destruction, but it was a genuine one and there was a lot of love shared that night (look back at ONE NIPPON HERE).

A lot of people start blogs to become famous, however, that’s never been our goal. We started Tokyo Dandy with the clear aim of ‘bridging the gap between high fashion and street style’. Looking back through our photos I think we’ve achieved that goal. From luxury brands including PRADA and MARC JACOBS to rising domestic stars such as Christian Dada and PHENOMENON, from super stars including VERBAL, Kylie, P Diddy, Pharell, PRINCE and Nicki Minaj to our super star friends at Kita Kore, Candy, Trump Room, Le Baron and beyond…. 2011 has been a year in which worlds have collided and a new generation of passionate creatives on every level have excelled.

We feel embarrassed when people tell us they enjoy Tokyo Dandy as there is so much more we feel we can do. We thank everyone who has helped us and supported us in 2011 and we look forward to doing better and being better in 2012.

Through Christian Dior’s friendships with artists such as Dali and the commissioning of pieces for Dior stores, the House od Dior has a long standing history with the Art world. The brands upcoming collaboration with artist Anslem Reyle is an extension of this artistically inclined history. Launching on January 4th at Shinjuku’s Isetan store, the artist has taken the fluorescent camouflage for which he is famed and used it to recreate the Lady Dior bag. Like a techno remix of a baroque classic, the bags are turned inside out, modern fabrics on the outside hide luxurious leathers in shocking pink shades within. The designs mark a meeting point between classic design and craftsmanship and a contemporary take on fabrics and colors. The Anselm Reyle accessories collection—featuring bags, shoes, make-up jewelry. It’s January 4th Japan release comes five days before it’s global launch on January 9th.

We’re big fans of Kyoto based artist Chocomoo’s work. Her fun infused work is inspired by fashion and music as well as traditional Japanese culture. Chocomoo has collaborated with singer Ai, H&M and Joyrich amongst others bringin her work to a wider audience. We use her portrait of us as our Twitter profile photo (see here). As we head into the New Year, we asked Chocomoo to produce an illustration celebrating the year of the dragon. We’ll post that in a couple of days, for now, here’s a look at some of Chocomoo’s previous work, more of which can be seen on her website below.
