5年ぶりに東京に訪れたファッション・デザイナーの「ステラ・マッカートニー（Stella McCartney）」が、昨夜（5月20日）駐日英国大使館にて2013/14年秋冬コレクションのプレゼンテーションを開催した。2008年にオープンした東京1号店に続いて、2店舗目となるフラッグストアを六本木ヒルズにオープン（4月4日）。
会場にはファッション関係者にメディア陣、大使館の方々、滝川クリステル、水原希子、福島リラ、マ ドモアゼル・ユリアほか、多くの著名人が訪れステラの世界観を満喫。外は霧雨だったものの、絶妙なライティングで赤とピンクの薔薇がゴージャスに光り輝く。庭園には「STELLA」という文字がイングリッシュガーデンを華やかに演出。
一番下の写真は入口付近に展示されていたデヴィッド・ホックニーのコラージュ作品「Luncheon at The British Embassy – 英国大使館での昼食会」で、1983年に英国大使館での昼食風景を張り合わせたもの。
Last night Designer Stella McCartney presented her Fall-Winter 2013 collection at The British Embassy in Tokyo. Stella’s brand is an approachable elegance, not unlike the Designer herself who mixed freely with the guests last night (which amongst others included Takigawa Crystal, Mizuhara Kiko, Asano Tadanobu, Rila Fukushima and Mademoiselle Yulia). In a city where ‘kawaii’ often means kitsch, Stella’s designs are a lesson in ageless, pretty elegance. Artists sat on a podium and spent the evening painting and illustrating the collection as worn by models who wandered through the state rooms of the embassy enjoying the champagne, Earl Grey Belvedere mojitos and ice cream. There was no mistaking who the evening was about with ‘STELLA’ spelt out in ivy on the back lawn. I pieced to photos together to depict this as an homage to Hockney, a collage by whom ‘Luncheon at The British Embassy 1983’ takes pride of place in the entrance to the home, currently occupied by Ambassador Tim Hitchens.
