「グッチ」のイマジネーションとクリエイティビティの探求、イタリア・フィレンツェの歴史あるメルカンツィア宮殿内に「Gucci Garden」をオープン。グッチのクリエイティブ・ディレクター、アレッサンドロ・ミケーレの発案によって生まれた「Gucci Garden」は、今のグッチの中核となる折衷主義的なクリエイティビティと、そこに内包される様々なストーリーを探究する空間。
「Gucci Garden」という名前は、植物、花、動物といった自然からのインスピレーションと、グッチの美学を表現しているだけでなく、メタファーも込められている。それぞれの時代を象徴するオブジェや写真、ビデオ、現代アート、とグッチが創設された1921年から今に至るまでの幅広いコレクションを、過去と今を対比させた2つの空間で表現している。
また、ファッション批評家のマリア・ルイーザ・フリーザがキュレーターを務めたギャラリーでは、あらゆる空間にイマジネーションを刺激するようなオブジェと映像をミックスしているよう。
Alessandro Michele’s reign at Gucci continues with the opening of the ‘Gucci Garden’ in Florence. As wellcoming as it is palatial, the building’s facade gets the Guccify treatment with a giant neon-pink eye shining out into the medieval Palazzo della Mercanzia. The Gucci museum originally opened in this space in 2011, Michele’s overhaul brings a boutique with dedicated merchandise, a restaurant headed by 3-michelin star chef Massimo Bottura and an exhibition space displaying items from the Gucci archive (which itself dates back to 1921). A definite must-see next time we’re in Florence.
