PIGALLE ‘EROS’ PRESENTATION IN TOKYO

Although PIGALLE is tied to it’s Parisian namesake geographically, that hasn’t stopped it making strong extensions into Tokyo as could be seen with the opening of the store in Shinsen last year (photos here). Following on from its Parisian debut in January, PIGALLE presented A/W 16-17’s collection in Tokyo last week. The mixed crowd at a PPP night is evident in the vivid color palette of this, Stephane Ashpool’s 10th collection, a symbolic number representing a new cycle for the Designer. Whilst Ashpool’s own unique sartorial flare was apparent in the looks, this collection was inspired by ‘Strength and softness, sensibility and determination with a touch of seduction’, characteristics Stephane has appreciated in the men he has met on his journey thus far. The increased quality of the production brought to PIGALLE as winners of the ANDAM Award marked a distinct progression from the street and sportswear aesthetic of the early days and a move into an eclectic wardrobe for a global boho-nomad. The intimacy of the presentation was the perfect way in which the intricacy and quality of the clothing could be appreciated, models taking place between mannequins closed by Stephane himself. A success in every sense.
