Coincidentally, whilst writing about the Marc Jacobs Japan ‘Protect the Skin You’re In’ project last night we took delivery of a package from the company, a sizeable black box with ‘Marc Jacobs Aoyama’ across the side. Opening it we found a silver cube, the casing of which slid upwards to reveal 3 different layers. I immediately recognized that this was a scale model of the Stephan Jaklitsch Designed Marc Jacobs store which is to open next in Aoyama, Tokyo next month. The invitation to the store opening was to be found in the base of ‘the store’. What a genius idea, the store itself invites you to it’s own opening party. Literally the best invitation ever. Below is an artists impression of the store from street level together with a picture of the invitation and a photo I took of the structure in Aoyama last month. Yesterday we posted a documentary on the building which has already won awards for Stephan Jaklitsch Architects, view that here. The Marc Jacobs Aoyama store opens in December 2010.

You are right!
That’s for sure one of the best invitations ever we have seen too!
Amazing design.
Hello Tokyo Dandy,
sorry for using the comments for my request, couldn’t find any mail-contact. I am an editor for Axel Springer Verlag in Berlin, Germany.
As part of a new project we are working on at the moment we are looking für Tokyo-based – German speaking – fashion-bloggers. We are looking for, basically, one post per week, of course with payment.
We were thinking of you because of your Blog “Tokyo Dandy”. Do you know anybody who could be interested in such a job? Or anybody who knows anybody who knows… any input would be great, we are kind of lost when it comes to Japan.
Hope to hearing from you soon,
Thanks + all best
